The website skills, by stage

Croftweaver is 34 website skills for AI coding assistants. Each one starts with a plain Markdown file of instructions that your assistant reads and follows; some bring scripts and templates. This page lists them by the stage of a site's life they serve.

As of : toolkit release 0.29 () and 3 skills added since, website-contact-form, website-scorecard and facts-check.

You do not call them one by one

You say new website, and the first skill in the list runs the others in order. Later you ask in your own words, for example for your Google report or a review of a new page, and the assistant picks the skill. A site built with them carries its own copy of the skills it needs, so the next person or assistant to work on it has them too.

Build

From a brief to a finished site.

new-website
Runs the whole build: an interview of six questions, the project with its tests, then the other skills in order.
website-positioning
Works out what you offer, for whom and in which market category, before any copy is written. How positioning works.
customer-research
Collects and analyses what customers say, so the positioning rests on their words.
website-content-guide
Sets the tone of voice and the trust signals that every page follows.
website-storyoptional
Tells the home page as the story of your visitor, in seven sections.
copywriting
Writes and rewrites page copy: headlines, calls to action, whole pages.
site-architecture
Plans pages, navigation, addresses and internal links.
website-design-system
Sets the visual standards: responsive images, dark mode, contrast in both themes.
image
Creates and optimizes images.
website-seo-geo
The contract for every page head: title and description limits, share tags, canonical address, structured data, llms.txt.
schema-markup
Adds and fixes structured data (schema.org JSON-LD).
og-images
Generates a share card for every page.
website-testimonialsoptional
For a site with testimonials: shows them on the page and encodes them as review data, from one source.
website-contact-formoptional
Adds a contact form that needs no server: the visitor's own email program opens with the message ready to send, and the site stores nothing.
website-motionoptional
Adds two restrained motion effects, and respects visitors who turn motion off.
astro-i18n-setupoptional
Makes the site multilingual: routing, language tags, a language switcher, tests per language.
keystatic-setupoptional
Adds an editor (Keystatic) for people who do not edit files.
website-permissions
Cuts permission prompts in the routine build loop and keeps destructive actions gated.

Verify

Tests first, then reviews that read what a test cannot.

website-qa
The gate before launch: run the tests, fix until green, then check speed.
website-review
A review in two passes: bugs first, then consistency across files.
double-knuth
The same two-pass review for any repository or set of files.
independent-review
Sends a plan or a change to independent AI models for a second opinion.
website-positioning-checkoptional
A quick look from outside: can a visitor tell what is on offer, for whom, and why to believe it?
seo-audit
Audits a site for technical and on-page SEO problems.
internal-link-audit
Finds pages that are orphaned, thinly linked or buried, and suggests where to link.
outgoing-link-audit
Checks every link to another site: alive, redirected, rebranded or dead.
facts-check
Compares the figures on every page of a live site with the facts you approved, and lists the pages that have lost the term their audience gives them.
website-scorecardoptional
Publishes what the site's own tests checked as a dated section on one page. A run with a failing test writes nothing.

Launch

Getting the site in front of search engines, and ready for a team.

search-console-setup
Registers the live site with Google Search Console and Bing, submits the sitemap, turns on IndexNow.
business-listings-setupoptional
For a business with listings: claims Google Business Profile, Bing Places and directory entries, and checks that the profile links resolve.
website-team-setupoptional
Readies the repository for several people and assistants: collaborators, a rule that changes arrive as pull requests, automatic checks, previews.

Grow

Reading real data and acting on it.

search-console-insights
Reads your Search Console data: where you rank, what sits just below the first page, which pages are seen but not clicked. Also runs the optional weekly AI check.
ai-seo
Improves pages so that AI assistants can read and cite them.
seo-reposition
Repositions a live site whose category wording is not ranking.

What a skill is not

A skill is a set of instructions that an assistant follows, not a program that runs the same way every time. Not every site uses every skill: the ones marked optional run only when you ask for them or when your answers call for them. And a skill that finishes cleanly promises no ranking and no citation by an AI assistant.

Credit: seven of the skills (ai-seo, seo-audit, schema-markup, site-architecture, copywriting, customer-research, image) are derived from marketingskills by Corey Haines, under the MIT licence.

Two skills build on published methods, in Croftweaver's own words: website-positioning uses the five parts of positioning from April Dunford's book Obviously Awesome, and website-story is inspired by Donald Miller's StoryBrand framework. Croftweaver is not affiliated with April Dunford or Donald Miller, and neither endorses it. StoryBrand is a trademark of its owner. Sources and links.

New in the last three releases

0.29 29 September 2026
One prepaid key covers the weekly AI check for four assistants, and every run shows what it cost. Measured on 26 September 2026 through OpenRouter, a full weekly check for one site (42 questions) cost 0.72 US dollars, before the fee for topping up credit. Prices change.
0.28 27 September 2026
A report page on how people find you on Google: week by week, up to 16 months back, with the searches just below the first page and the pages seen but rarely clicked. It stays on your own computer.
0.27 27 September 2026
An optional story layer for the home page, the weekly check of whether AI assistants name you, a report on it that reads in plain words, and a guided setup for teams.

What keeps the result honest is on another page: the test gate, suite by suite.
